COVID-19 Considerations 

The committee members of MWRDC are committed to providing safe meeting environments and to ensuring the health and safety of all participants in its events. We plan to host an in-person event in Grinnell, Iowa. 

By registering for and attending the MWRDC in Grinnell, Iowa, attendees agree to comply with the following health and safety protocols established by MWRDC to help prevent exposure to COVID-19 and ensure the safety of all event participants. 

Please Note: These policies may be revised occasionally to reflect changing pandemic-related circumstances and the latest guidance from public health officials as well as the CDC. Grinnell College is a private college therefore has its own COVID-19 policies. Please check this page as well as Grinnell's website ( periodically for updates or changes to these protocols

Before Leaving Home 

  • Registrants who feel sick, who have tested positive for COVID-19 within 10 days of the MWRDC (even if still asymptomatic), or who have been in close contact with anyone who has COVID-19 within 14 days of the MWRDC should stay home

On-site During the Event

  • All registrants are required to follow Grinnell's policies, including mask usage. Grinnell's mask policy is determined by community levels. Currently Grinnell requires all visitors to wear a mask while indoors, but this is subject to change. We will inform all registrants closer to the event what Grinnell's policy is at the time of the retreat, but until then feel free to check Grinnell's website for more information:

  • All registrants will have their own private room for lodging 

  • All registrants are encouraged to take appropriate preventative actions to help stop the spread of COVID-19, such as:

    • Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using an alcohol-based sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

    • Avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth.

    • Covering nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing​

Post Event

  • All registrants and guests who test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days after returning home from the MWRDC in Grinnell are encouraged to notify the MWRDC planning committee by emailing Upon receipt of any such notification, and while maintaining the confidentiality of any attendee who reports a positive post meeting COVID-19 test result, MWRDC planning committee will notify all event attendees of their potential exposure to COVID-19 during the conference.
